[ARCHIVED] Parker 2035 Master Plan Public Hearings

The Master Plan is the Town’s guiding document regarding land use and other important planning opportunities as our Parker continues to grow. The Town has received input from our residents through surveys, workshops and open houses over the last two years. This community input was used to draft the Plan that is now ready to be considered by the Planning Commission and Town Council. Public Hearing dates have been scheduled for Planning Commission consideration on Thursday May 24, 2012 at 7 p.m. or as soon as possible thereafter and for Town Council consideration on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 7 p.m. or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Parker 2035 Master Plan is an update of the 2025 Master Plan. Many of the updates reflect new demographic information, economic data, map revisions and minor text revisions. Community input remained notably consistent between 2005 and 2012; based on this, much of the Plan remains unchanged. New concerns raised by the public included a desire for more local, higher-paying jobs, reduced commercial vacancies and concern about the aging commercial areas in our community.

A few of the more significant changes include revisions to Chapter 14: History, Arts, Culture and Science, reflecting the construction of the Preservation Park, the PACE Center and our expanding cultural programming. The General Land Use Map was also updated to include a new land use character area near Town Hall called East Downtown Gateway. Character areas describe the desired future land use character of areas in Town. The new East Downtown Gateway describes a mix of land uses, building sizes and building placement that transition from the Downtown area to suburban residential areas.
