[ARCHIVED] Town of Parker Awarded Grant by Great Outdoors Colorado

The Town of Parker was recently awarded a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) in the amount of $277,000 for the Norton Farms Trailhead and Trail Connection project. This project was one of 15 Local Government Projects selected state-wide to receive funding.

The proposed four (4) acre trailhead, which will be located along the west side of Parker Road just north of the Cottonwood community, will include parking for 33 cars, school bus parking, concrete and soft-surface trail connections, plus a future picnic shelter/rest area with historic and interpretative signage. A trail connection will also be constructed, linking this trailhead with the Cherry Creek Regional Trail to the west and the 17-Mile House historic property to the north in Arapahoe County. Both Arapahoe County and Douglas County have also contributed funding for this project.

“These grants help the Town continue with our mission to create and preserve parks and open space,” said Mayor David Casiano. “We are fortunate to be able to move ahead with this project during tough economic times.”
