The eagerly anticipated expansion of the Parker Recreation Center is now underway following a ceremonial groundbreaking event on Wednesday, May 7.
Mayor Mike Waid was on hand to officially launch the ambitious project, which will begin with demolition of the parking lot and portions of the existing facility. During the summer, the parking lot will be replaced and a new temporary facility entrance will be located on the north side of the building. Patrons will enter through the existing gymnasium while work begins on major improvements on the front half of the facility during the initial stage of construction,
Once completed, the new and improved Parker Recreation Center will boast a new leisure pool with a variety of amenities, a new therapy pool, additional lap swimming lanes, eight new family changing rooms, an additional half gymnasium, a children’s party room, new classrooms, a new fitness studio, an expanded lobby and reception area, renovated locker rooms, an expanded parking lot and a dynamic new exterior to the facility. In all, the Recreation Center will feature 34,000 square feet of new and renovated space.
The expansion project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015. The Recreation Center will remain open during construction, although some amenities may be closed periodically. If you have any questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact the Town at
